Stormlight

Born in 2016 Storm lived the first 4 years of her life in Moses Lake barely being handled.

Sarah saw Storm's ad on Craigslist in 2020 - she was being advertised as a gaited horse, which is completely untrue, but for $800 Sarah went to look anyway. Storm is not the typical thoroughbred that Sarah was used to but she took a chance on a young untrained cheap horse. The original intent was to train Storm up a bit and sell her in order to get something my commonly seen in the jumper ring. Well, Sarah gets attached and Storm has a forever home!

Storm came to Golden Clover Farm in May. Sarah spent time getting to know Storm, doing lots of groundwork, getting her amendable for the farrier, and introducing her to a saddle. Their first ride was August! Storm was (and continues to be) a fast learner and happy participant.

2021 was all about building strength and learning cues and included an introduction to jumping via pole work. Sarah and Storm did their first schooling show at the end of the year. They did two rounds of trot poles and a flat class!

2022 saw Storm jumping! Sarah and Storm went to a few schooling shows, competing in 2' hunters.

2023 sees more schooling shows and then Storm and Sarah headed to Cle Elum to compete in USHJA Outreach 2'3" hunters. Their top placing was 3rd and they got 8th out of 23 in the derby! Later in the year they did a schooling show and competed in jumpers for the first time. They did .70m and got a Reserve Champion.

2024 has a bit of a setback. Storm's feet got trimmed too short and she was lame for a few months and then needed to rebuild muscle after rebuilding hoof. While Storm took time off being ridden, she and Sarah turned to Equine Trail Sports and in-hand obstacles. This kept the pair learning and working together. They competed at a few local ETS event and had a blast!

2025 sees Storm in good health. No competing happened, but Sarah and Stormed worked heavily on learning flying changes.

2026 so far has been getting back out there. Storm and Sarah did another ETS event. They schooled cross country locally and have been jumping regularly at home. Storm sometimes gets her flying change!
